Lesotho - HEALTH SECTOR PROJECT - Health System Interventions Activity: This Project activity will strengthen pre-service and in-service training capacities.

The Project will assist the Government in developing an in-service training plan within the context of devolved services, and assist in implementing the most critical elements of the plan.

The Project will assist the Government in developing an in-service training plan within the context of devolved services, and assist in implementing the most critical elements of the plan.

This is likely to include health center level training of health center staff, local administrations, and communities regarding the new roles and responsibilities of each.

This Project activity will provide additional support, in collaboration with the World Bank, to ensure that decentralization is rapidly and sustainably effected in the health sector.

The MoHSW has a two person health research unit with a mandate to provide oversight to research activities in the health sector.

This team will be supported through MCC Funding to increase their capacity to coordinate research activities and to share vital lessons learned from Lesotho-specific health research.
