The purpose of this project is to increase the functionality of the wildlife corridor linking La Amistad International Park with the lowlands of the Osa Peninsula by bringing together technology solutions to reduce poaching while working with local communities to improve livelihoods.
This project is intended to conserve jaguars and their prey by addressing the impacts of poaching, retaliatory killing, and habitat conversion.
Activities include: (1) implementing acoustic anti-poaching arrays (gunshot detectors) to pinpoint poaching in real time; (2) collaborating with landowners and farmers to develop wildlife friendly livelihoods, including Jaguar Friendly Coffee; and (3) working directly with communities to support habitat restoration and conservation education.
