Grant Description

This project will: 1) Legally protect 490 hectares/1,210.3 acres of wetlands in the Alvarado and Tamiahua lagoon systems through state, federal, or private legal mechanisms. 2) Restore the same (490) hectares/(1,210.3) acres using a mangrove nucleation (chinampa) techniques and hydrological restoration, and restore an additional 30 hectares/74.10 acres, which are already protected through a Municipal Ecological Reserve Decree, by reopening 2 km/1.24 miles of channels and implementing the mangrove nucleation technique. 3) Develop an online environmental education platform and train 30 teachers and 900 children.
