Grant Description

Partners will establish the Bird City Network to guide light pollution reduction efforts in Panama City.

A Project Coordinator will oversee various initiatives, including collaborating with partners to develop light pollution guidelines specific to the city's need.

These guidelines will help to identify areas where light pollution impacts habitats used by migratory birds in the city and contributes to collisions.

Additionally, the Project Coordinator will engage in social media campaigns to raise awareness of the issue and to recognize individuals, businesses, and government offices that participate in light reduction activities. The Network will also celebrate migratory birds through World Migratory Bird Day.

The project will culminate with a comprehensive long-term plan that identifies phases of activities to address the issue of light pollution beyond the two-year project.
