Grant Description

In 2016, China’s Ministry of Defense provided a grant worth RMB 197 million to the Government of Laos for the Hospital 103 Reconstruction Project.

The purpose of the project was to reconstruct a military hospital in the capital city of Vientiane with nearly 300 beds and 6 operating rooms that is capable of serving approximately 3,000 outpatients each day. Xijing Hospital of the PLA Military Medical University was responsible for project implementation.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 22, 2016 ("China’s government helps construct new Hospital 103"). The project handover and hospital opening ceremony was held on January 19, 2019.

China-aided hospital building handed over to Laos Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
