Grant Description

On January 28, 2019, the Lancang-Mekong Cultural Exchange Youth Camp was established.

The camp is under the support of the first batch of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Funds disbursed to Myanmar (recorded in Record ID#68542). The youth camp was held in Mandalay from January 28 to 31, 2019. It was hosted by the Mandalay National University of Culture and Arts.

More than 200 young people from 6 countries including China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam participated.

It is expected that the project will provide a platform for youth to carry out cultural exchanges and enhance the youth's understanding of Lan-Mei cooperation.

The Lancang-Mekong Cultural Exchange Youth Camp was opened by Myanmar Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture U Aung Ko with the presence of Chinese Ambassador Hong Liang.

The four-day activities of the youth camp cover a sightseeing tour by cruising the Ayeyawaddy River, country paper reading on "Traditional Culture of Lancang-Mekong Region," making local handicrafts, composing songs and creating choreography about program, city tour around Mandalay's cultural heritage sites, visit to the Mandalay National University of Arts and Culture, and planting trees of memory.

This project is completed.
