Grant Description

In November 2018, the People's Republic of China granted the Cook Islands Government an RMB 50 million grant (NZ $10 million) through an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) for unspecified purposes. The agreement was signed by their respective diplomatic envoys in Wellington.

Cook Islands's Financial Secretary, Garth Henderson, says this recently-announced NZD 10 million grant from China may be able to be used to remedy problems with stage one of the Te Mato Vai project (see Record ID#38181).
