Grant Description

On February 20, 2006, the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Li Jinjun, turned over a $250,000 donation check on behalf of the Chinese government to Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alberto Romulo.

The donation was in response to the severe landslide that occurred in Southern Leyte on February 17, and the donation was part of the USD $1 million donated by the Chinese government in response to this disaster.

The USD $1 million donation was comprised of this $250,000 donation along with a donation of $750,000 worth of material aid (recorded in the linked Record ID#63887). This project is completed.

This project is linked to China's $750,000 worth of emergency material donation (recorded in Record ID#63887), and the $1.11 million total Chinese financing in response to this landslide (recorded in the umbrella Record ID#68627).

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Financial Tracking Service captures the donations worth $250,000 and $750,000 as one flow in the flow ID #34623.
