Chinese Government provides $1.56 million grant for Phase 2 of Agricultural Technical Cooperation Project (linked to Record ID#s #34702, #38626, and #63874)

In September 2011, the Chinese Government provided a grant worth $1.56 million USD (66.9 million PHP) to finance the second Agricultural Technical Cooperation Program (TCP-II) at the Philippines-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT).

The first technical cooperation program, implemented from 2003 to 2008, primarily tested and demonstrated the adaptability of Chinese hybrid rice and agricultural mechanization technologies according to the program website.

Under the five-year second phase, which began in 2011, technologies from the previous technical cooperation program were to be put to the mainstream and continue further study on other advanced Chinese technologies in agriculture for possible adaptation in the Philippines. In April 2015, the mid-project assessment for Phase 2 of the Agricultural Technical Cooperation Project was held.

The second phase of the technical cooperation project started in March 2012 and was scheduled to end in March 2017. A document uploaded by Department of Agriculture in December of 2017 indicates that the project has been completed. The third phase of the technical cooperation program for PhilSCAT was financed in 2018.
