Grant Description

On January 6, 2003, during a state visit by Chinese State Counselor Wu Yi, the governments of Suriname and China signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) in Paramaribo. Through the agreement, the Chinese government granted $2.5 million USD to Suriname for unspecified projects. During the same visit, the Chinese government also gave Suriname's state-owned television network US$350,000.

Factiva Media sources ('China gives Surinam 2.5 million dollar grant,' ex.) indicate that grant went towards this Foreign Affairs building project captured in 36682. However, this is contradicted by multiple more official sources in 36682 ('中国援苏里南外交部办公楼启用仪式在苏举行' from the Chinese Embassy and 'Chinese new migrants...', an academic article), and thus the two projects have not been linked/this is not considered a project that funded 36682.
