Grant Description

In 2014, China agreed to continue to deliver to Vanuatu diversified training programs, including 48 short-term multilateral seminars with 70 participants available, and 1-year master’s degree programs with 3 participants (one Master of Education, one MBA, and one MPA) (or 人力资源合作项目).

The topics of the seminars cover the areas of agriculture, public administration, tourism management, communication network, WTO rules, media management, geographical information, IT-based human resources development, economic mechanism reform, municipal comprehensive planning, fiscal administration, customs administration, clean and renewable energy, etc.

Considering the English and French bilingual system of Vanuatu, in 2014, the Chinese government will provide some opportunities for Vanuatu French-speaking officials and technicians to attend some programs specifically tailored for French-speaking developing countries.

Since 2005, nearly 450 Vanuatu officials and technical personnel have attended over 300 Human Resources Training Programs in China.

These training courses or seminars usually last 2-3 weeks and are generally held in Beijing, Shanghai or provincial capitals.

Subjects of seminars and programs include agriculture, public administration, tourism management, communications, trade regulation, media management, and other major areas of work or study. Human resources training is an important part of the Chinese government's assistance to Vanuatu.

In his 2014 New Year's address, H.E.Xie Bohua, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, confirmed that 15 students from Vanuatu travelled to China for bachelor and master degrees programs in 2014. He also stated that over 60 Vanuatu government officials received human resources training from China in 2014.
