Chinese Government financing for Pasig-Marikina River and Manggahan Floodway and Bridges Construction Project under discussion Pasig-Marikina River and Manggahan Floodway and Bridges Construction Project (or the Metro Manila Logistics Improvement Project) involves the construction of ten priority bridges crossing the Pasig-Marikina River and Manggahan Floodway.
The Twelve Priority Bridges under the Pasig-Marikina River and Manggahan Floodway Bridges Construction Project of DPWH aims to improve the road network and increase the transportation capacity in Metro Manila. NEDA Board approved the projects in April 2018 and the feasibility study was completed in June 2018.
The Department of Public Works and Highways submitted to DOF on Jun 6, 2018, the requisite documents to facilitate the application for the preferential buyer's credit loan from China.
On Aug. 22-24, 2018, the projects were under discussion as one of the projects under the “second basket” for Chinese loan financing.
Five bridges were submitted for financing under the Export-Import Bank of China's Preferential Buyer's Credit facility: North & South Harbor Bridge [Contract 1] (recorded in the linked Record ID#63293) Palaca-Villegas Bridge [Contract 2] (recorded in the linked Record ID#63281) Beata-Manalo Bridge [Contract 2] (recorded in the linked Record ID#63284) Blumentritt-Antipolo Bridge [Contract 2] (recorded in the linked Record ID#63289) East Bank-West bank Bridge 1 [Contract 2] (recorded in the linked Record ID#63292).
The total cost of the project was 27,380 billion PhP.
It is unclear how much of this financing was covered under the preferential buyers' credit facility from China EximBank.
As of December 2020, two commercial contracts for the implementation of the bridges have been signed by two Chinese companies and the Department of Public Works and Highways of the Philippines (Xinhua News).
