From May 7, 2018 to May 8, 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with North Korean Kim Jong-Un in Dalian, China.
It was widely reported at the time that the Chinese Government would promise a new aid package to North Korea during the meeting.
Then, in July 2018, the Chinese Government donated 1,000 tons of rice worth $1.02 million to the Government of North Korea (captured via Record ID#63061).
By October 2018, the Chinese Government had also donated 162,007 tons of urea fertilizer worth $55.03 million to the Government of North Korea (captured via Record ID#63132).
1. 'The State of Play in Sino-DPRK Relations' and 'China drastically increases oil supply to N. Korea' suggest China promised to deliver 200,000 tons of urea fertilizer to North Korea. However, AidData has elected to use the 162,007 figure, as that was based on statistics from China's General Administration of Customs ('Food Aid Pours in Even as N.Korea Boasts of Grain Harvest').
