Grant Description

The project will restore sub-tropical dry forest on two island protected areas in the Dominican Republic through the permanent removal of up to seven invasive alien vertebrate species benefiting rock iguanas (Cyclura sp.).

The project will: 1) complete restoration work on Isla Cabritos, 2) utilize the local field team and engage international expertise to initiative ecosystem restoration on Isla Catalina, and 3) engage with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to support and inform future island restoration and endangered species recovery in the Dominican Republic where invasive species are a threat.
