China Eximbank provides loan to build 13,500-line exchanges in twelve Myanmar towns in 2002 In 2002, China Eximbank reportedly provided a loan to Myanmar Posts and Telecommunication (MPT) — a state-owned enterprise in Myanmar — for a project to build 13,500-line-capacity digital auto-telephone exchange in 12 towns.
The proceeds of the loan were to be used by MPT to finance a $6.5 million commercial contract with China National Electronics Import and Export Shenzhen Company (CEIEC). This project was completed on March 20, 2002.
1. The China Eximbank loan that supported this project is not included in the Overseas Development Finance Dataset that Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center published in December 2020.
