China Eximbank provides preferential buyer's credit for 30MW Houay Palai Hydropower Station Project On November 13, 2017, China Eximbank and the Lao Ministry of Finance signed a preferential buyer's credit (PBC) agreement for the Houay Palai Hydropower Station Project. The face value and the borrowing terms of the PBC are unknown.
This project involves the construction of a 30MW diversion power station in Champasak Province.
Upon completion, its reservoir adjustment storage capacity is expected to reach 8.57 million cubic meters, which will become a regulating reservoir with an annual power generation of 124 million kWh that can consistently generate electricity in the rainy and dry seasons.
This project is sometimes transliterated as Huay Prap Hydropower Project or Huaibole Hydropower Project. The Chinese project title is 色省怀博莱水电站项目 or 占巴色省怀博莱水电站项目. The China Eximbank loan that supported this project is not included in the Overseas Development Finance Dataset that Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center published in December 2020.
