In 2013, the Chinese Government reportedly provided a grant to the Government of Equatorial Guinea for the Dumasi-Niefang Agricultural Demonstration Farm Project. The monetary value of this grant is unknown. On October 20, 2015, Jiangxi Ganliang Industrial Ltd. completed the project.
It was officially handed over to Equatorial Guinea’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Equatorial Guinea on March 4, 2016.
Jiangxi Ganliang Industrial Ltd. selected agricultural experts to carry out crop diversification cultivation, improved seed breeding, production and processing demonstration, technology promotion and personnel training at the Dumasi-Niefang Agricultural Demonstration Farm in the town of Niefang. The farm covers an area of 52 hectares.
The agricultural expert group launched a rice planting experiment in November 2017.
Then, in May 2018, Dumasi-Niefang Agricultural Demonstration Farm grew a rice crop successfully for the first time in the history of the country.
In order to promote the cultivation of rice within 10 acres of farmland, the Chinese agricultural expert group selected 4 high-yield rice varieties suitable for local planting.
It overcame various difficulties, including a low seedling survival rate, seedling transplanting problems, and fertilizer and water management challenges.
