PCJV BRITISH COLUMBIA

Protect and improve wintering and staging habitat for waterfowl in the PCJV, and breeding habitat for waterfowl in the CIJV. Partner activities will also benefit other wetland-associated species in the region.

This programmatic project will further goals of NAWMP and the Canadian Intermountain and Pacific Coast Joint Ventures in British Columbia, Canada...Specifically, partners will secure 3,975 acres of habitat through fee acquisition of 724 acres (425 wetland, 249 upland) and through conservation agreements, leases, and easements on 3,251 acres (2,133 wetland, 1,118 upland).

Partners will also enhance 6,927 acres (2,580 wetland, 4,327 upland) and manage 1,577,746 acres that were secured as part of this or previous NAWCA projects.

In addition, partners will influence 14,380 acres through the promotion of wildlife friendly land use practices...Objectives by proposal window:..? 2012-3: Securement - 1,909 acres; Enhancement - 5,802 acres; Management - 365,997 acres...? 2013-3: Securement - 785 acres; Enhancement - 475 acres; Management - 392,600 acres...? 2014-3: Objectives include fee title acquisition of 39 acres (25 wetland acres and 14 acres of uplands).

Crown land agreements will be placed on a total of 600 acres (425 wetland acres and 175 upland acres). Enhancement activities will take place on 325 acres (250 acres of wetlands and 75 acres of uplands).

Management will take place on 398,682 acres (164,724 acres of wetlands and 233,958 acres of uplands)...? 2015-2: Objectives include fee title acquisition of 42 wetland acres and crown land designation/transfer of 600 acres (450 wetland and 150 upland), enhancement of 325 acres (250 wetland and 75 upland), management of 420,467 acres (164,895 wetland and 255,572 upland), and 3,000 acres (1,000 wetland and 2,000 upland) will be influenced by stewardship activities.
