ONTARIO QUEBEC & ATLANTIC: PROTECTING

Securement, enhancement, management and stewardship activities across the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture will prohibit degradation and fragmentation of wetland and upland habitat and ensure the protection of wintering, molting, breeding and staging areas for many bird species including tens of thousands of waterfowl.

Project accomplishments will include fee simple acquisition of 3,000 acres (1,190 wetland and 1,810 upland), 50 acres (10 wetland and 40 upland) in conservation agreements, 74 acres (12 wetland and 62 upland) of enhancement activities and management of 72,335 previously secured acres. Stewardship activities will also affect 991 acres.
