Project activities will respond to the request for assistance from the Ministry of Environment to reduce the unsustainable hunting of wild species for the wild meat trade by 1) quantifying the impacts of the wild meat trade on wild species along the Maxus road in the Yasun National Park, 2) identifying and understanding the population that generates the demand for wild meat in order to design targeted outreach interventions to alter consumer behaviors, 3) strengthening the capacity of Yasun National Park staff to implement, enforce, and monitor laws protecting wildlife, and 4) building awareness of the wild meat trade and its causes with stakeholders.
