Grant Description

Project partners will monitor southbound migrant shorebirds, including Red Knots, Hudsonian Godwits, Semipalmated Sandpipers, White-rumped Sandpipers and Dunlins, to estimate variability of migration phenology and length of stay, and variation in annual abundance.

They will also assess habitat and food resource availability and determine the minimum proportion of the global Red Knot and Hudsonian Godwit populations that use the study area. Partners will engage local First Nations community members annually in shorebird survey camps.
