Facilitating Regional Cooperation through Intergovernmental Processes: the 8th Meeting of the IOSEA Marine Turtle MOU Advisory Committee and 8th Meeting of the Signatories (MOS8)

The purpose of this award is to support regional capacity building and inter-governmental coordination and cooperation of marine turtle conservation efforts in Southeast Asia and Indian Ocean.

The intent of this grant is to provide travel support to increase participation of member countries less able financially to participate.

Activities include: (1) a Conference of the Signatory Parties for the Indian Ocean Southeast Asia Marine Turtle MOU will be held in the Fall of 2018 hosted by the government of Vietnam to discuss an agenda of conservation issues such as trafficking of sea turtle products, a protected areas network, fisheries bycatch, and status of conservation efforts with the region.

There are 45 member countires in the IOSEA including the U.S.
