Grant Description

The purpose of this project is to establish a response team (GRECO Grupo de Respuesta al Conflicto) to address conflicts between humans and large felids in the Magdalena Medio in the tropical Andes of Colombia.

Project activities will be carried out in close collaboration with the Federacin Nacional de Ganaderos de Colombia (FEDEGAN), the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and four Local Environmental Authorities (Corporacin Autnoma Regionales (CARs) de Antioquia, Santander, Cesar, and Boyac).

Workshops will be conducted to train two CAR representatives from each region to diagnose local depredation conflicts, follow-up procedures for wild felid attacks on livestock, and anti-predatory techniques.

Additional workshops will be conducted with members of the FEDEGAN to support the implementation of anti-predatory techniques and overall conservation efforts.
