China Eximbank pledges $170 million loan for Migration from Analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television Project On October 2, 2012, the Government of Gabon committed to facilitate a transition from analogue to terrestrial digital television.
Then, on August 11, 2015, Startimes and the Government Gabon signed a commercial contract for the Migration from Analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television Project.
In 2017, the Export-Import Bank of China reportedly agreed in principle to provide a loan worth $170 million to help finance this project. The proceeds from the loan would be used to facilitate the installation of 200 transmitters.
This migration was scheduled to take place in two stages: 50 out of 74 localities would be covered in phase 1 (2016) and 24 localities would be covered in phase 2(2017-2018). However, it does not appear that this project ever came to fruition.
The French project title is Projet lié à la migration de la télévision analogique à la télévision numérique terrestre (TNT) or Projet de la Migration de la Télévision analogique vers la Télévision numérique terrestre. The Chinese project title is 模拟电视至数字电视整转及广播更新项目. This project is likely not part of the Ten Thousand African Villages Project captured in #57618.
