According to Shenzhen Spike Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd (SPARK), in February 2013, the Foreign Aid Department of China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the Bureau of Renewable Energy within the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Energy initiated a Solar Street Light Project. With funding from MOFCOM, a contractor named SPARKOE installed 315 sets of 60W solar street lamps.
The street lamps measure 8 meters in height and are spaced 30 meters apart. The project was completed in July 2013.
This project is also known as the Egypt Split Type Solar Street Light Aid Project. The Chinese project title is 埃及-分体式太阳能路灯援外项目. It is unclear whether this project took place at or near the Kuraymat Solar Power Station. This issue merits further investigation.
