Grant Description

The recipient will implement community based nesting surveys and assessments to determine number of nests and degree of threats from poaching and jackals at two sites in the south of Nouabchott where nesting is greatest and provide this information to the Ministry of Environment to assist with its development of a National Conservation Action Plan for Mauritania.

The recipient will also conduct outreach and education with local communities and work with Imraquen fishers to reduce sea turtle bycatch in gill nets.
