Grant Description

The purpose of this project is to support a conservation effort in Central Africa by raising the regional and international profile of the impact of the commercial bushmeat trade on people and wildlife.

This project is intended to better prevent legally protected species from entering the bushmeat trade by working with policy makers and collaborating with a network of field projects.

Specific activities include: (1) participation in regional and international policy meetings; (2) technical assistance for legal officials and wildlife authorities in the application of relevant wildlife law; and (3) development of key recommendations for regional partners to address the impact of the commercial bushmeat trade.
