On November 17, 2015, China donated 600,000 doses of anti-malarial drugs to Lekma Hospital in Ghana (also known as Teshie General Hospital or China-Ghana Friendship Hospital), which is located in the west of Teshie city.

Since 2006, China had been periodically supplying Ghana with anti-malarial drugs, as well as offering education in treatments. One source estimates the medication to be worth roughly USD $1.3 million. The handover ceremony was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana and Ghana's Minister of Health.
