The purpose of this grant is for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to select two AAAS fellows to assist with the USFWS Division of International Conservations (DIC) work in Central Africa.
With an expected budget of $17.5 million for 2015 for USFWS activities in Central Africa (an increase from nearly $8 million in 2014), the fellows will be play a key role in meeting the Africa Branchs increased workload. The fellowships are renewable for a second year if agreed to by the sponsoring agency and the fellow.
This will be the first time USFWS has hosted an AAAS fellow and therefore an opportunity to evaluate whether the agency could benefit from the program in the future.
