On July 6, 2012, China Water Resources and Electric Power Corporation (CWE) and the Cameroon Ministry of Water Resources and Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the renovation and expansion project of the Lagdo Hydropower Project and the Fleuve Faro Hydropower Remediation Project in Yaoundé.
This memorandum states that the project's total investment is $225 million, of which 85% ($191,250,000) will come from China Eximbank, and the remaining 15% will come from the government.
The Lagdu Hydropower Station was completed in 1984 by China Water Resources and Electric Power Corporation with an installed capacity of 72 MW. It was in the first batch of aid projects implemented by the Chinese Government in Cameroon. The current status of this project is unknown.
