Grant Description

In June 2017 during a visit by Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong, Chinese and Zambian government officials signed two economic and technical cooperation agreements (ETCA) worth a total of 450 million RMB.

One of the ETCAs provided 250 million RMB for two different projects: (1) the construction of milling plants in Monze, Mpika and Lusaka (Record ID#52463) and (2) construction of an International Conference Center to host the 2022 African Union Summit (Record ID#57297). The financial breakdown is unknown.

It is unclear whether this was a grant or interest-free loan.

The second 200 million RMB ETCA for upgrading Levy Mwanawasa Hospital into a University Teaching Hospital is captured in Record ID#40727.
