Grant Description
China Eximbank to potentially finance rehabilitation of Nguba-Kamina-Mwene Ditu-Mbuji Mayi-Kananga Road Rehabilitation Project In 2017, Agence Congolaise des Grands Travaux (ACGT) announced that it would seek to rehabilitate National Route 1 (or La Route Kananga-Mbuji-Mayi-Kamina-Nguba), a 108 kilometer road that passes through Kananga, Mbuji Mayi, Mweneditu, Kamina, and Nguba in Democratic Republic of Congo.
This project will be financed through a public-private partnership (PPP) and China Eximbank has reportedly expressed interested in providing a loan. The contractor responsible for project implementation is Anhui Foreign Economic Construction (AFECC).
This road project consists of 6 lots: Lot 1: Nguba-Lubudi-Luena (223km); Lot 2 : Luena - Bukama - Kamina (192 km); Lot 3 : Kamina- Kanyama (189 km); Lot 4 : Kanyama - Mwene-Ditu (163 km); Lot 5 : Mwene-Ditu -Mbuji-Mayi (135km); and Lot 6 : Mbuji-Mayi - Kananga (180 km).
The total cost of the project is $1,232,178,353, and a funding request was submitted to China Eximbank as of April 14, 2017.
However, the project has not started, and it is unclear if China Eximbank has officially committed any funding for the project. The project is also known as the Kananga-Mbuji-Mayi-Kamina-Nguba Road Project. The French project title is Rehabilitation of National Route 1 or La Route Kananga-Mbuji-Mayi-Kamina-Nguba.
