Grant Description

On February 24, 2014, Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Zaabi Ould Sidi Mohammed, and China’s Ambassador to Mali Cao Zhongming, signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement (ETCA). The ETCA provided for a 150 million RMB grant and a 50 million RMB interest free loan.

This project captures the 150 million RMB grant portion of the ETCA.

The agreements were signed in the Malian capital, Bamako, on February 24, 2014 by Mali's Minister of Foreign affairs and International Cooperation Zahabi Ould Sidy Mohamed and the Chinese Ambassador to Mali Cao Zhongming.

The funds are meant for the building of a university campus in Kabala (near Bamako) on the Bamako-Segou road, the hydro-electric dam of Gouina and other priority projects that will be identified by the Malian government.
