Grant Description

In November 2017, CARICOM (Caribbean Community, an organization of 20 Caribbean nations whose primary objectives are to promote economic integration and cooperation) announced that many nations pledged over $2.3 billion USD to support rebuilding efforts in Caribbean communities affected by Hurricane Irma and Maria.

Of those $2.3 billion, China pledged $30 million in grants. It is unclear which part of the Chinese Government is providing these funds and when these rebuilding efforts began.

According to the U.N. these funds will be used to repair/build homes, roads, bridges, restore power and communications and ensuring people have drinking water.
