Grant Description

From September 3 to 4, 2018, during Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir's visit to China for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged that China would provide Sudan with an RMB 400 million grant to aid Sudan to overcome economic difficulties and to be used in the projects agreed upon.

The precise source of funding within the Chinese government is uncertain.

During FOCAC, President Xi also pledged that an interest-free loan of RMB 200 million will be provided to Sudan (captured in Record ID#56283).
