The Chinese Agricultural Technical Mission successfully Introduced four varieties of cantaloupe to Dominica on the Portsmouth Agricultural Station.
Cantaloupes refer to a variety of the Cucumis melo species in the Cucurbitaceae family ranging in weight from 0.5 to 5 kilograms. They are typically melons with a hard scaly or warty rind, usually grown in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Now, these cantaloupe varieties have been successfully cultivated and harvested in Dominica.
The project is linked to Project #56148 as part of an umbrella project.
The Chinese Agricultural Technical Mission Introduced Cantaloupe Successfully on the Portsmouth Agricultural Station Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
