Grant Description

On March 17, 2019, in the village of Gailing, 30 kilometers away from the capital Bangui, the Chinese Embassy in Central Africa and the Ministry of Health of the Central African Republic launched the Central African National Anti-malarial Campaign to distribute anti-malarial drugs and food to local villagers.

Central African President Faustin-Archange Touadéra and his wife Tina, Ambassador to the Central African Republic Chen Dong , Minister of health central african republic Pierre Somse, Chairman of the National Assembly Friendship Group Ma Kango, The 16th Chinese-Central African Medical Team (ID#55646), representatives of some Chinese-funded enterprises, Nearly 1,000 members of the Central African National Assembly, government officials, and villagers from Damara city and the village of Gailing participated in the launching ceremony.

Subsequently, President Tuvadela and Ambassador Chen jointly distributed medicines, food and anti-malarial leaflets to the local government and heads of medical institutions.

On April 25, 2019, the “World Anti-Malaria Day”, The Ministry of Health of the Central African Republic held a large-scale “Central African National Anti-Malarial Campaign” launching ceremony in Pissa.

International organizations such as UNICEF, Red Cross, and Médecins Sans Frontières as well as the 16th mission of the Chinese-Central African Medical Team participated in the launch.

At this ceremony, Anti-malarial drugs were handed over to the PISSA City Medical and Health Care Center, and medical teams from the Friendship Hospital as well as the Chinese-Central African Medical team provided consultation, diagnoses, and treatments This campaign is part of the Chinese Government’s efforts to implement the "Eight Major Actions'' announced by China at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September 2018.

The exact value of these donations and services that China offered during the campaign and its launch are unknown.
