Grant Description

In 2016, the Chinese Government provided an RMB 68.74 million grant to the Government of Mauritius for the Integrated Government Clearance Center (IGCC) Construction Project.

The purpose of this project is to build a New Cargo and Freeport Zone to house the customs officials from the Mauritius Revenue Authority and other government agencies involved in clearance of goods, including agro-industry, fisheries and health. This project involves the provision of furniture and equipment.

Around 30 hectares of land next to the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Plaisance have been set aside for the IGCC. On July 26, 2019, the Government of Mauritius issued an invitation for bids on the IGCC Construction Project. On January 26, 2020, a foundation stone laying ceremony took place for this project.

Then, on January 26, 2022, an inauguration for the center was held.
