After the earthquake that struck Pakistan in 2005, the Chinese Government pledged to help with reconstruction efforts.
On November 24, 2006, the Chinese Government and the Government of Pakistan signed an RMB 80 million grant agreement, which provided 60 million RMB for the construction of a hospital and school in Baffa.
The project involved the construction of a 6,525-square-meter high school (GHSS Baffa) that would cost Rs 487.5 million and a small hospital of 4,400 square meters (THQ Baffa) that would cost Rs 412.5 million. The school would be designed to accommodate 720 students.
At the beginning of 2011, an advance team of 6 people from the Shandong Expressway Qilu Construction Group arrived in Baffa and began the project preparation work. Construction started on July 2, 2011.
Then, from December 16-22, 2011, a mid-term quality inspection team organized by the Economic Cooperation Bureau of China's Ministry of Commerce inspected and accepted the project. Based on the 2013 newsletter, the two buildings were constructed around February 2013.
In 2015, Chinese Government agreed to update the school and hospital buildings by installing waste management and drainage systems, etc. This project is captured in Project ID#53903. The additional 20 million RMB in the 2006 grant agreement was used for emergency flood relief in 2010 (captured in #73381).
