Grant Description

In October 2017, the governments of Eritrea and the People's Republic of China signed an agreement to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

This agreement included the construction of 400 residential apartments in Eritrea through the assistance of the Chinese government. The agreement was signed by the Eritrean Minister of Finance, Mr. Berhane Habtemariam and the Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea, Mr. Yang Zigang.

According to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of December 2019, preliminary preparations for the project were "proceeding smoothly." The value and status of this project are uncertain.
