Grant Description
In 2017, the Chinese Government provided a grant worth 30 million CFA francs to the Government of the Central African Republic for the Gbaloko Primary School Rehabilitation Project.
This project involved the rehabilitation of 6 classrooms, the refurbishment of a school fence, and the provision of 300 new table-benches at Gbaloko Primary School. This school is located in the town of Bégoua, 17 km north of Bangui on the road to Boali at Pk 15. European Union Military Training Corps and the CAD Defense Forces were responsible for project implementation.
The Gbaloko Primary School (also known as Bangui Central Primary School, l’Ecole Gbaloko, Ecole d’Amitié Chine-Centrafrique, and Ecole d'amitié des chinois) was originally constructed with a grant from the Chinese Government (#56239) but it was later vandalized during a period of violence and instability.
The school rehabilitation project was officially completed and handed over to the local authorities on October 8, 2017.
The formal handover ceremony was attended by Ma Fullin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the Central African Republic and Michel Loudégué, representing CAR’s Minister of Primary Education.
