Grant Description
In May 2017, the Chinese Government and the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe signed a bilateral cooperation agreement.
According to the World Bank, under the terms of this agreement, the Chinese Government agreed to provide the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe with $38 million of general budget support between 2017 and 2022. There is evidence that the Chinese Government followed through on this pledge.
According to Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, the Chinese Government contributed $11 million to its general budget in 2017 (#73465), $10 million to its general budget in 2018 (#73466), and $5 million to its general budget in 2019 (#73468).
