Grant Description

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) that builds upon its investment in data-driven approaches for the purpose of defining molecular mechanisms of resilience in the presence of various types of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD) risk.

The goal of this NOFO is to build a robust program that integrates epidemiologic, genomic, and mechanistic research through the use of data driven, systems-based approaches (including the use of artificial intelligence and/or machine learning methods) to discover the molecular/cellular determinants of resilience to AD/ADRD risk across representative populations.

The initiative will support the generation of high-dimensional molecular data from brain and peripheral tissues, including longitudinal data, to enable dynamic modeling of resilience mechanisms and to discover molecular predictors of resilience.

Applications are not being solicited at this time.

Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. This NOFO intends to utilize the U01 activity code.

Investigators with expertise and insights into this area of aging research are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO.
