Grant Description

On September 26, 2018, the Chinese Government and the Government of the Dominican Republic signed an exchange of letters, which committed grant funding for the acquisition and delivery of 40 fire trucks.

Then, on January 21, 2019, the Chinese Government delivered the 40 fire trucks and 4 containers of related goods for the benefit of the Government of the Dominican Republic at the San Isidro Air Base, East Santo Domingo. The Minister of Economy in the Dominican Republic, Isidoro Santana, thanked the Chinese Government for the donation.

Minister Santana said that the trucks and equipment offered by the Chinese Government would provide better protection for people and their goods. A handover certificate was issued the Chinese Embassy on April 25, 2019. The trucks were produced by the state owned SAIC Hongyan Motor Company. Production and delivery of the vehicles took 4 months.

Chinese technicians also arrived to inspect the vehicles and provide training to Dominican firefighters. The Chinese side also provided a 3-year free quality guarantee and related spare parts.
