Grant Description

The Guarani Indigenous people in Southern Brazil face food insecurity caused by limited access to land and income-generating opportunities.

The IAF supports community-led solutions for expanding food security and economic inclusion for historically marginalized groups.

IAF grantee Associao Tembi?u Por (ATP ) will support Guarani families in developing agroforestry systems for food production in the Indigenous territory of Rio das Cobras in western Paran state, to improve their food security and foster a healthier diet.

ATP is also investing in a processing facility for surplus fruits and vegetables with aims to supply local schools with healthy foods.

This grant is part of a cohort of Indigenous organizations based across Brazil that aim to support their communities and promote spaces for exchange and learning among different ethnicities facing complex challenges.
