Grant Description

Website Q'eqchi' communities in rural Guatemala face increasing food insecurity from intensifying extreme weather events and the economic shocks from the global pandemic. The IAF supports community-led approaches to expanding economic opportunity.

Our grantee Organizacin para el Desarrollo Integral de Guatemala, Sembrando Esperanza ONG (ODIGUA) will foster community-led development and food security in San Pedro Carcha, Alta Verapaz, using a training of trainers approach in three areas: sustainable agriculture practices for family gardens, women?s economic and social empowerment, and youth entrepreneurship.

ODIGUA will manage seed capital for community development projects and youth initiatives.

This grant is part of the IAF's Women INvesting in Growth and Security (WINGS) initiative to empower women as business and community leaders, broader Eta/Iota response strategy, and efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.
