Grant Description

Small-scale avocado farmers in the Yoro department of Honduras currently struggle to get their avocados to market, which leaves them vulnerable to exploitative prices.

The IAF supports community-led solutions to expand economic opportunities that provide productive alternatives to irregular migration.

Our grantee Fundacin para la Investigacin Participativa con Agricultores de Honduras (FIPAH) helps small-scale farmers earn more from avocado sales by increasing sustainable production and by strengthening the Yoro Association of Local Agricultural Research Committees' ability to (ASOCIAL) to collect and market avocados.

FIPAH's activities also promote women and youth's participation in producing and selling avocados and provide opportunities for farmers to share their knowledge about production techniques in national forums. This grant is part of the IAF's efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.
