Establishing Agroforestry Systems to Produce Organic Coffee in the Municipality of Ro Limpio

In Ro Limpio in the Elas Pia region of the Dominican Republic coffee rust decimated farmers' fields.

Cooperativa de Productores Orgnicos Valle de Ro Limpio (COOPROVALLE) helps its members improve certified organic coffee production by renovating fields with rust-resistant plants and by utilizing agroforestry techniques in order to generate income improve livelihoods and protect the environment. At the IAF we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in the Dominican Republic.

COOPROVALLE's activities increase small business growth local entrepreneurship and market development to ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.

Amendment FY21:This amendment provides COOPROVALLE an additional two years and $182,000 to continue to strengthen its agroforestry and conservation practices, as well as strengthening the commercialization of its coffee.

As part of this amendment, COOPROVALLE is mobilizing an additional $147,250 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.

Amendment FY24: This amendment provides COOPROVALLE an additional two years and $150,000 to continue to strengthen its agroforestry and conservation practices, as well as reinforce its capacity to bring its coffee to market.

As part of this amendment, COOPROVALLE is mobilizing an additional $156,650 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.
