Grant Description

Young women in the municipality of Fray Bartolome de las Casas in Alta Verapaz have very limited educational opportunities and their families often face shortages of food supply.

Asociación de Mujeres Adelina Caal Maquín (ACM) runs a community high school and provides technical assistance to develop skills in diversifying crops and protecting natural resources. At the IAF we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Guatemala.

ACM's activities promote smallholder agriculture and food production to enhance food security and ensure meaningful opportunities for communities to thrive.

This grant is part of the IAF's efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.
