Website Young people in Honduras have limited educational employment and social options which contributes to high rates of migration.

Asociacin de Desarrollo Pespirense (ADEPES) and two other IAF community partners (OYE and ADETRIUNF) work together in this grant to provide small education and technical scholarships leadership training and microenterprise development making it possible for young people to continue their education to develop job skills and small businesses and to contribute to the wellbeing and development of their communities.

At the IAF we support community-led solutions to strengthen governance in Honduras.

ADEPES's activities strengthen communities through education and training and build peer-to-peer learning and action networks. This grant is part of the IAF's efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.

FY16 This amendment provides ADEPES with $55,000 to develop, in conjunction with five other IAF grantees, a strategy to address extreme weather by assisting farming families coping with drought to implement appropriate agricultural practices.

Some 300 individuals in and around Pespire will directly benefit while approximately 600 individuals will benefit indirectly. As part of this amendment, ADEPES is mobilizing an additional $37,592 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.

FY20 This amendment provides ADEPES with an additional 18 months and $145,317 for consolidating youth networks, strengthening young people?s communications skills, and expanding public and private partnerships for the sustainability of these efforts, benefitting more than 1,100 youth in high migration regions of Honduras.

The amendment will also strengthen 42 youth microenterprises initiated during the grant period, linking them to national market opportunities and youth-specific credit options with local financial institutions. As part of the amendment, ADEPES is mobilizing an additio
